In January 2012 Sothebys in New York held the auction Old Master & 19th Century European Art, Including Property from The Forbes Collection: The Panorama of Champigny, which included the work Three Children by Gaetano Bellei. The »bidding war« ended at USD 13,750.00 (€ 10,533.98), 38% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Gaetano Bellei have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Italian a Windy Day in May 2011 with an auction result of USD 134,500.00 (€ 93,558.71).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 38 % übertroffen
Im Januar 2012 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Old Master & 19th Century European Art, Including Property from The Forbes Collection: The Panorama of Champigny durch, in der auch die Arbeit Three Children von Gaetano Bellei zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 13.750,00 (€ 10.533,98) und damit 38% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Gaetano Bellei auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Italian a Windy Day im Mai 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 134.500,00 (€ 93.558,71).
