Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Hemisphere Leaves by Gabriel Orozco was auctioned at Phillips in London in July this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 30,000.00 – 50,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 15,240.00 (€ 17,780.46). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Gabriel Orozco achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Dandelion in May 2018 with an auction result of USD 795,000.00 (€ 681,233.93).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Hemisphere Leaves von Gabriel Orozco im Juli diesen Jahres bei Phillips in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 30.000,00 – 50.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 15.240,00 (€ 17.780,46) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Gabriel Orozco erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Dandelion im Mai 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 795.000,00 (€ 681.233,93).
