Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Frederick Mercer could be acquired at Christies in London in January 2006 for an unexpectedly low price. In the British and Continental Pictures and Watercolours auction, the work Idle chatter in a fishing hamlet changed hands for GBP 60.00 (€ 87.94) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 100.00 – 200.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Frederick Mercer achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A saucer of milk in July 2007 with an auction result of GBP 600.00 (€ 891.14).
