In February 2016 Christies in New York held the auction Living With Art, which included the work On the Cross by Frederick James Brown. The result of USD 1,000.00 (€ 920.13) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of USD 1,000.00 – 1,500.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Frederick James Brown - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Piano Men (Ray Charles, Roosevelt Skykes, Memphis Slim, Count Basie): A Diptych, which sold at auction in March 2013 for USD 3,750.00 (€ 2,926.03).
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Im Februar 2016 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Living With Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit On the Cross von Frederick James Brown zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von USD 1.000,00 (€ 920,13) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 1.000,00 – 1.500,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Frederick James Brown mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Piano Men (Ray Charles, Roosevelt Skykes, Memphis Slim, Count Basie): A Diptych beobachtet, die im März 2013 für USD 3.750,00 (€ 2.926,03) versteigert wurde.
