In February 2000 Christies in London held the auction British and Continental Watercolours and Drawings, which included the work The fishing fleet returning to port by Frederick James Aldridge. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 575.00 (€ 940.94), 15% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Frederick James Aldridge - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Fishing vessels in calm seas, which sold at auction in March 2001 for GBP 1,997.50 (€ 3,223.17).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Februar 2000 führte Christies in London die Auktion British and Continental Watercolours and Drawings durch, in der auch die Arbeit The fishing fleet returning to port von Frederick James Aldridge zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 575,00 (€ 940,94) und damit 15% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Frederick James Aldridge mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Fishing vessels in calm seas beobachtet, die im März 2001 für GBP 1.997,50 (€ 3.223,17) versteigert wurde.
