Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Ostende boats by Frederick James Aldridge was auctioned at Christies in London in May 2003. The price achieved of GBP 940.00 (€ 1,309.66) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Frederick James Aldridge - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Fishing vessels in calm seas, which sold at auction in March 2001 for GBP 1,997.50 (€ 3,223.17).
