Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2002 Christies in London held the auction IMPORTANT PORTRAIT MINIATURES, GOLD BOXES & OBJECTS OF VERTU, which included the work Elizabeth Glaister, facing left in off-the-shoulder pink silk dress with pleated bodice, fur stole draped over her left shoulder, pendant locket on a gold chain about her neck, her brown hair dressed in ringlets and a knot; draped blue curtain and sk by Frederick Cruickshank. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 1,075.50 (€ 1,684.25) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Other works by Frederick Cruickshank have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in May 2004 the work John Gibson Reeves, in black coat with velvet collar and gold buttons, buff coloured waistcoat and black stock, curling brown hair and sideburns was auctioned for GBP 1,912.00 (€ 2,868.70).
