In May 2015 Sothebys in London held the auction 19th Century European Paintings, which included the work German the Dragon Slayer by Franz von Stuck. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 605,000.00 (€ 841,188.83), 21% above the upper estimate. With this result, German the Dragon Slayer is even the most expensive work of art by Franz von Stuck that we have observed at auctions so far.
