Auction result misses estimated price range
In October 2020 a collector was able to acquire the work Portrait Of A Man by Franz von Matsch for USD 21,420.00 (€ 18,391.00). This price was achieved in the auction 19th Century European Art at Sothebys in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 25,000.00 – 35,000.00 set by the auction house. Other works by Franz von Matsch have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in October 2021 by the work Portrait of an African Man at USD 32,760.00 (€ 28,358.73).
