Admittedly, works by Franz Michael Regenfuss have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Auserlesne Schnecken, Muscheln und andere Schaalthiere, 1758 in May last year with an auction result of GBP 22,680.00 (€ 26,680.86).

Die Arbeit Auserlesene Schnecken, Muscheln und andere Schaalthiere (‘Choix de Coquillages et de Crustacés’) : four plates von Franz Michael Regenfuss kam im Oktober 2016 bei Christies in New York zur Auktion. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von USD 4.000,00 (€ 3.648,97) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 33%. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Franz Michael Regenfuss auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Auserlesne Schnecken, Muscheln und andere Schaalthiere, 1758 im Mai letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 22.680,00 (€ 26.680,86).
