This price was achieved in the auction Old Master Drawings and British Drawings and Watercolours at Christies in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 1,500.00 many times over. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Franz Kobell - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Ideale Landschaft bei aufziehendem Gewitter., which sold at auction in December 2008 for EUR 25,000.00.
