Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%

This artwork by František Tichý achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in November 2014. In the Czech Avant-Garde Art from the Roy and Mary Cullen Collection auction, the work Czech Smoking Fish (Ryba) sold for GBP 1,125.00 (€ 1,414.44) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 500.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by František Tichý; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Czech in Front Of The Circus (Před Cirkusem) sold at auction in June 2011 with the realized price of GBP 1,750.00 (€ 1,936.05).

Dieses Kunstwerk von František Tichý erzielte im November 2014 bei Sothebys in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Czech Avant-Garde Art from the Roy and Mary Cullen Collection wurde die Arbeit Czech Smoking Fish (Ryba) für GBP 1.125,00 (€ 1.414,44) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 500,00.
