Auction result well in line with expectations
The work French View Of The Bosporus, Constantinople In The Distance by François Léon Prieur-Bardin was sold in the 19th Century European Art including The Orientalist Sale auction at Sothebys in New York in April 2008. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 30,000.00 – 40,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 31,000.00 (€ 19,912.64) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by François Léon Prieur-Bardin - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Bateaux Sur La Corne D'Or, La Pointe de Seraglia, which sold at auction in June 2007 for EUR 67,200.00.
