Auction result misses estimated price range
In December 2008 a collector was able to acquire the work Studies of a woman picking flowers, subsidiary studies for the Massacre of the Innocents by Francisco Vieira for GBP 475.00 (€ 498.89). This price was achieved in the auction Old Master & British Pictures & Old Master Drawings at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 500.00 – 700.00 set by the auction house. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Francisco Vieira - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Galatea und Polyphem., which sold at auction in April 2016 for EUR 1,187.00.
