Auction result misses estimated price range
In January 2015 a collector was able to acquire the work Nymphs Turning The Apulian Shepherd Into An Olive Tree by Francisco Collantes for USD 62,500.00 (€ 55,358.72). This price was achieved in the auction Master Paintings and Sculpture: Part II at Sothebys in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 70,000.00 – 90,000.00 set by the auction house. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Francisco Collantes - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A rocky river landscape with fishermen and shepherds resting with their flock, which sold at auction in July 2004 for GBP 139,650.00 (€ 211,041.88).
