This price was achieved in the auction Old Master & British Paintings Evening Sale at Sothebys in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 80,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Francisco Bayeu y Subíias; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Retrato de Feliciana Bayeu, hija del pintor sold at auction in October 2007 with the realized price of EUR 760,250.00.
