Auction result well in line with expectations
In November this year Bonhams in New York held the auction Impressionist & Modern Art, which included the work Sans titre (Saint-Paul-de-Vence) by Francis Picabia. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 30,000.00 – 50,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 30,720.00 (€ 28,162.82) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Francis Picabia achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Pavonia in March last year with an auction result of EUR 9,996,700.00.
