Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Why the Line? by Francis Criss was sold in the Fine American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture auction at Christies in New York in March 2011. The price achieved of USD 12,500.00 (€ 8,813.37) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Francis Criss achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Melancholy Interlude in November 2018 with an auction result of USD 348,500.00 (€ 307,780.62).
