two engravings and one etching, circa 1778, on wove papers, all with margins, light-staining to varying degrees, surface soiling, areas of staining, foxing, vertical central folds where previously bound, soft handling creases, a few short tears mostly in the margins, other minor defects, not examined out of the frames

Auction result misses estimated price range

In October 2004 a collector was able to acquire the work Veduta Dell'Arco di Costantino; Veduta Dell'Anfiteatro Flavio Detto Il Colofseo; Veduta Del Pantheon D'Agrippa: Three Plates by Francesco Piranesi for USD 2,629.00 (€ 2,062.61). This price was achieved in the auction Property from the Collection of Peggy N. and Roger G. Gerry, at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00 set by the auction house. Admittedly, works by Francesco Piranesi have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Veduta Del Prospetto Principale Della Colonna Antonina  in March 2017 with an auction result of GBP 12,500.00 (€ 14,648.77).

Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne

Im Oktober 2004 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Veduta Dell'Arco di Costantino; Veduta Dell'Anfiteatro Flavio Detto Il Colofseo; Veduta Del Pantheon D'Agrippa: Three Plates von Francesco Piranesi für USD 2.629,00 (€ 2.062,61) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion Property from the Collection of Peggy N. and Roger G. Gerry, bei Christies in New York erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von USD 3.000,00 – 5.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Francesco Piranesi auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Veduta Del Prospetto Principale Della Colonna Antonina  im März 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 12.500,00 (€ 14.648,77).
