Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Turkish troops and artillery by the tent of a general, cavalry besieging a walled town in the distance; and A Christian general being presented with the keys of a city by a defeated Turk, cavalry on a battlefield beyond by Francesco Monti was auctioned at Christies in London in December 2000. The price achieved of GBP 4,112.50 (€ 6,551.18) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. Admittedly, works by Francesco Monti have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Achille Trascina Il Corpo Di Ettore in November 2010 with an auction result of EUR 34,350.00.

Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 4.112,50 (€ 6.551,18) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Francesco Monti auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Achille Trascina Il Corpo Di Ettore im November 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 34.350,00.
