Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Still Life With Melons, Plums, Cherries, And Bread On A Table Draped With A White Damask Tablecloth by Floris van Dijck was sold in the Master Paintings Evening Sale auction at Sothebys in New York in January 2016. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 250,000.00 – 350,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 274,000.00 (€ 252,954.21) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Floris van Dijck - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Still Life Of Walnuts, Hazelnuts, Strawberries, A Roemer And An Overturned Wine Glass, All Resting On A Table, which sold at auction in January 2008 for USD 993,000.00 (€ 669,092.38).
