Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Un paysan de profil à droite by Fernand Cormon was auctioned at Christies in Paris in December 2004, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of EUR 400.00 – 600.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for EUR 35.25. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Fernand Cormon achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work French Still Life With Coffee Service And Hookah in May 2008 with an auction result of GBP 26,900.00 (€ 34,217.98).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Un paysan de profil à droite von Fernand Cormon im Dezember 2004 bei Christies in Paris versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von EUR 400,00 – 600,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für EUR 35,25 den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Fernand Cormon erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit French Still Life With Coffee Service And Hookah im Mai 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 26.900,00 (€ 34.217,98).
