A top price for Fernand Léger - as previously expected
The work Contraste de formes by Fernand Léger was auctioned at Christies in New York in November 2017. The price achieved of USD 70,062,500.00 (€ 58,885,947.22) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 65,000,000.00 – 85,000,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Contraste de formes is the most expensive artwork by Fernand Léger that we have observed at auctions so far.
