Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Scholar Gazing At Plum, 1944 by Feng Chaoran was sold in the The Reverend Richard Fabian Collection of Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy III auction at Bonhams in New York in September last year. Here, the upper estimate of USD 8,000 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 8,925 (€ 7,709). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Feng Chaoran achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work in October 2010 with an auction result of HKD 3,740,000 (€ 347,243).
