Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Félicien Rops could be acquired at Sothebys in London in November 2007 for an unexpectedly low price. In the 19th Century Paintings including Spanish Painting and Symbolism & the Poetic Vision auction, the work Belgian L'Idole (Les Sataniques) changed hands for GBP 2,500.00 (€ 3,500.65) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Félicien Rops achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Belgian Le Calvair (Les Sataniques) in November 2007 with an auction result of GBP 162,500.00 (€ 227,542.04).
