Description
FANG ZENGXIAN (1931-2019) Autumn Forest Scroll, mounted for framing, ink and colour on paper 83.5 x 45.5 cm. (32 7 ⁄ 8 x 17 7 ⁄ 8 in.) Inscribed and signed, with four seals of the artist Dated winter, dingchou year (1997) NOTE: This lot is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity issued by the Fang Zengxian Calligraphy and Painting Academy, dated 25 June 1998.
Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
The work Autumn Forest by Fang Zengxian was worth HKD 94,500.00 (€ 11,324.45) to a buyer in December last year. This price was achieved in the auction Exquisite Eye: Chinese Paintings Online at Christies in Hong Kong and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of HKD 25,000.00 many times over. Admittedly, works by Fang Zengxian have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Orchid Pavilion in May 2011 with an auction result of HKD 1,100,000.00 (€ 98,400.11).
Kunstwerk zum Dreifachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Die Arbeit Autumn Forest von Fang Zengxian war einem Käufer im Dezember letzten Jahres HKD 94.500,00 (€ 11.324,45) wert. Dieser Preise wurde in der Auktion Exquisite Eye: Chinese Paintings Online bei Christies in Hong Kong erzielt und übertraf den zuvor angesetzten oberen Schätzpreis von HKD 25.000,00 um ein Vielfaches. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Fang Zengxian auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Orchid Pavilion im Mai 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 1.100.000,00 (€ 98.400,11).
