Despite a disappointment, a good price for Eugene-Marie Salanson
When the work French The Fishergirl by Eugene-Marie Salanson was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in October 2008, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 25,000.00 – 35,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 21,250.00 (€ 16,756.03). Despite this disappointing result, French The Fishergirl is the most expensive artwork by Eugene-Marie Salanson that we have observed at auction so far.
