Auction result well in line with expectations
The work L'Appel by Eugène Carrière was sold in the Old Master and 19th Century Prints auction at Christies in New York in January this year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 3,024.00 (€ 2,785.04) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Eugène Carrière achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Maternité in November 2006 with an auction result of GBP 36,000.00 (€ 53,461.13).
