Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Esther Mahlangu achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in July this year. In the Modern & Contemporary African Art auction, the work Sans titre sold for EUR 14,080.00 - well above the upper estimate of EUR 6,000.00. Admittedly, works by Esther Mahlangu have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Ndebele Abstract in July this year with an auction result of GBP 50,400.00 (€ 58,801.52).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Esther Mahlangu erzielte im Juli diesen Jahres bei Bonhams einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Modern & Contemporary African Art wurde die Arbeit Sans titre für EUR 14.080,00 versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von EUR 6.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Esther Mahlangu auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Ndebele Abstract im Juli diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 50.400,00 (€ 58.801,52).
