Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Across the moat, Hever Castle by Ernest Arthur Rowe was sold in the British Art on Paper auction at Christies in London in November 2001. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 4,465.00 (€ 7,105.22) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Ernest Arthur Rowe - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Gardens of Montacute House, Somerset, which sold at auction in June 2006 for GBP 14,400.00 (€ 20,836.56).
