Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Home Thoughts by Emily Mary Osborn was auctioned at Sothebys in London in November 2008, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 50,000.00 – 70,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 39,650.00 (€ 47,939.83). Admittedly, works by Emily Mary Osborn have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Nameless And Friendless, The Rich Man'S Wealth Is His Strong City in November 2008 with an auction result of GBP 265,250.00 (€ 320,707.18).
