Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Émile van Marcke de Lummen achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in June 2011. In the Old Master and 19th Century European Art auction, the work Cattle In A Field sold for USD 15,000.00 (€ 10,328.44) - well above the upper estimate of USD 7,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Émile van Marcke de Lummen; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot The Approaching Storm sold at auction in October 2002 with the realized price of USD 14,340.00 (€ 14,512.70).
