Auction result misses estimated price range
In February 2018 a collector was able to acquire the work French the Butterfly by Emile Lévy for USD 1,375.00 (€ 1,126.03). This price was achieved in the auction Fine Old Master & 19th Century European Art at Sothebys in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Emile Lévy achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work VERCINGETORIX THROWS DOWN HIS ARMS AT THE FEET OF JULIUS CAESAR in December 2020 with an auction result of EUR 40,320.00.
