Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Else Bostelmann could be acquired at Christies in New York in December 2012 for an unexpectedly low price. In the The National Geographic Collection: The Art of Exploration auction, the work Gulper Eel Capturing and Eating Another Fish changed hands for USD 2,500.00 (€ 1,895.95) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. Other works by Else Bostelmann have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in December 2012 by the work Saber-Toothed Viper Fish at USD 3,000.00 (€ 2,275.14).
