It achieved a price of EUR 4,000.00 exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 33 %. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Egbert van der Poel achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A view of Delft after the explosion of 1654 in June 2002 with an auction result of GBP 111,150.00 (€ 171,923.88).

Die Arbeit Fire in a village at night with numerous figures near a bell tower on the river bank von Egbert van der Poel kam im Mai 2016 bei Christies in Amsterdam zur Auktion. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von EUR 4.000,00 und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 33 %. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Egbert van der Poel erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A view of Delft after the explosion of 1654 im Juni 2002 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 111.150,00 (€ 171.923,88).
