Auction result well in line with expectations
The work After the battle by Aaron Edwin Penley was auctioned at Christies in London in July 2004. The price achieved of GBP 418.25 (€ 632.07) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 300.00 – 500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Aaron Edwin Penley achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work William Henry Ker playing with a hoop, with a Chinese attendant in October 2014 with an auction result of GBP 27,500.00 (€ 35,113.53).
