This artwork by Edward Weston achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in April 2008. In the Edward Weston's Gifts to His Sister and Other Photographs auction, the work 'Death Valley' sold for USD 27,400.00 (€ 17,600.21) - well above the upper estimate of USD 15,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Edward Weston achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Nude in April 2008 with an auction result of USD 1,609,000.00 (€ 1,033,530.32).

In der Auktion Edward Weston's Gifts to His Sister and Other Photographs wurde die Arbeit 'Death Valley' für USD 27.400,00 (€ 17.600,21) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 15.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Edward Weston erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Nude im April 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.609.000,00 (€ 1.033.530,32).
