It achieved a price of GBP 1,000.00 (€ 1,078.35), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 25%. Admittedly, works by Edward Holmes have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Chasing the ducks in May 2003 with an auction result of GBP 3,818.75 (€ 5,320.48).

Die Arbeit Through The Forest von Edward Holmes wurde im März 2009 in der Auktion Christie's Interiors bei Christies in London versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von GBP 1.000,00 (€ 1.078,35) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 25%. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Edward Holmes auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Chasing the ducks im Mai 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 3.818,75 (€ 5.320,48).
