Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Minnehaha by Edmonia Lewis was auctioned at Christies in New York in November 2000. Here, the upper estimate of USD 60,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 64,625.00 (€ 74,332.87). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Edmonia Lewis - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Marriage Of Hiawatha, which sold at auction in May 2009 for USD 314,500.00 (€ 222,639.11).

Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von USD 60.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für USD 64.625,00 (€ 74.332,87) einen neuen Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Edmonia Lewis mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Marriage Of Hiawatha beobachtet, die im Mai 2009 für USD 314.500,00 (€ 222.639,11) versteigert wurde.
