Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Grapes, peaches, an apple and a pear on a mossy bank by E. Steele was auctioned at Christies in London in October 2003, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 400.00 – 600.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 235.00 (€ 343.24). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by E. Steele - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A pineapple, grapes, peaches and other fruit on a ledge; and A vase of mixed flowers on a ledge, which sold at auction in January 2003 for GBP 822.50 (€ 1,259.75).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Grapes, peaches, an apple and a pear on a mossy bank von E. Steele im Oktober 2003 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 400,00 – 600,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 235,00 (€ 343,24) den Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von E. Steele mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit A pineapple, grapes, peaches and other fruit on a ledge; and A vase of mixed flowers on a ledge beobachtet, die im Januar 2003 für GBP 822,50 (€ 1.259,75) versteigert wurde.
