Auction result well in line with expectations
In January 2019 Christies in New York held the auction Outsider and Vernacular Art, which included the work Sunset and Pier, 1960-1965 by Drossos Skyllas. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 15,000.00 – 30,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 18,750.00 (€ 16,369.83) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Drossos Skyllas - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Untitled (Roses), which sold at auction in January 2003 for USD 65,725.00 (€ 61,202.16).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Januar 2019 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Outsider and Vernacular Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Sunset and Pier, 1960-1965 von Drossos Skyllas zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 15.000,00 – 30.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 18.750,00 (€ 16.369,83) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Drossos Skyllas mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Untitled (Roses) beobachtet, die im Januar 2003 für USD 65.725,00 (€ 61.202,16) versteigert wurde.
