Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In December 2020 Christies in Hong Kong held the auction Modern and Contemporary Art Afternoon Session, which included the work Gift #142: An Unfamiliar Birdsong Heard in a Strange and Distant Land by Donna Ong. The »bidding war« ended at HKD 93,750.00 (€ 9,888.59), 17% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Donna Ong - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work And We Were Like Those Who Dream (Cocoon 3), which sold at auction in May 2019 for HKD 187,500.00 (€ 21,459.32).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Dezember 2020 führte Christies in Hong Kong die Auktion Modern and Contemporary Art Afternoon Session durch, in der auch die Arbeit Gift #142: An Unfamiliar Birdsong Heard in a Strange and Distant Land von Donna Ong zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von HKD 93.750,00 (€ 9.888,59) und damit 17% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Donna Ong mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit And We Were Like Those Who Dream (Cocoon 3) beobachtet, die im Mai 2019 für HKD 187.500,00 (€ 21.459,32) versteigert wurde.
