Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Domenico Duprà could be acquired at Sothebys in London in October 2009 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Old Master & Early British Paintings auction, the work Portrait Of A Member Of The House Of Savoy In Armour With A Red Velvet And Ermine Cloak Wearing The Order Of The Annunciata changed hands for GBP 3,750.00 (€ 4,188.16) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Admittedly, works by Domenico Duprà have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait of a gentleman, bust-length, in a red coat with gold embroidery in October 2008 with an auction result of GBP 13,750.00 (€ 17,526.32).
