Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A Cavalry Battle by Dirk Maas was sold in the Old Master & British Paintings Day Sale auction at Sothebys in London in December 2012. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 8,125.00 (€ 10,020.38) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Dirk Maas - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Thistles, Dock And Other Forest-Floor Plants In A Parkland Setting With Frogs, Butterflies And Snails, which sold at auction in July 2011 for GBP 32,450.00 (€ 37,241.23).
