Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Les Sciences (Robert-Dumesnil IX, 340-45; Guilmard 5; Berlin Kat. 4513) by Étienne Delaune was auctioned at Christies in New York in June 2013, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 600.00 – 1,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 500.00 (€ 384.32). Admittedly, works by Étienne Delaune have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Hunting Scenes [Venationes (Robert-Dumesnil 275-280)|AID574705] in June 2013 with an auction result of USD 2,750.00 (€ 2,113.76).
