Auction result well in line with expectations
In October last year Bonhams in Los Angeles held the auction Animalia, which included the work Cows in Pasture, 1970 by David Plowden. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 1,000.00 – 2,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 1,020.00 (€ 1,026.78) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by David Plowden - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Youngstown, Ohio, Street by Steel Mills, 1970; and Bloomfield Bridge, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, 1960, which sold at auction in December 2011 for USD 4,000.00 (€ 3,083.33).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Oktober letzten Jahres führte Bonhams in Los Angeles die Auktion Animalia durch, in der auch die Arbeit Cows in Pasture, 1970 von David Plowden zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 1.000,00 – 2.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 1.020,00 (€ 1.026,78) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von David Plowden mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Youngstown, Ohio, Street by Steel Mills, 1970; and Bloomfield Bridge, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, 1960 beobachtet, die im Dezember 2011 für USD 4.000,00 (€ 3.083,33) versteigert wurde.
