Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Untitled, 1984-1988 by David Ireland was auctioned at Bonhams in Los Angeles in June 2020, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 1,500.00 – 2,500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 1,402.50 (€ 1,248.78). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by David Ireland - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Cafeteria with Menu, which sold at auction in July 2017 for USD 4,000.00 (€ 3,382.38).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Untitled, 1984-1988 von David Ireland im Juni 2020 bei Bonhams in Los Angeles versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 1.500,00 – 2.500,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 1.402,50 (€ 1.248,78) den Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von David Ireland mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Cafeteria with Menu beobachtet, die im Juli 2017 für USD 4.000,00 (€ 3.382,38) versteigert wurde.
