Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Westward and Lamorna racing at Cowes, 1910, with the Royal Yacht Victoria and Albert (III) at anchor beyond and guardships in attendance by David Brackman was sold in the Maritime & Naval Battles (Pictures) auction at Christies in London in May 2007. The price achieved of GBP 18,000.00 (€ 26,488.22) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 15,000.00 – 20,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by David Brackman - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work H.M.S. Victory , a bow view, breaking the enemy line at the Battle of Trafalgar, 21 October 1805, which sold at auction in July 2016 for GBP 64,900.00 (€ 77,115.24).
