In September 2014 Christies in London held the auction The Neil Wilson Collection: A Romantic Vision, which included the work The Man of Sorrows by Cyril Saunders Spackman. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 812.50 (€ 1,043.61), 16% above the upper estimate. With this result, The Man of Sorrows is even the most expensive work of art by Cyril Saunders Spackman that we have observed at auctions so far.
