This artwork by Alfred d'Orsay achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in January 2009. In the Christie's Interiors auction, the work A portrait of a gentleman, half-length, in profile wearing a cravat (illustrated); and A portrait of Quintin Dick Esq., half-length, in profile sold for GBP 1,125.00 (€ 1,266.37) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 600.00. Admittedly, works by Alfred d'Orsay have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Duke of Wellington on horseback in March 2004 with an auction result of GBP 7,170.00 (€ 10,732.83).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Alfred d'Orsay erzielte im Januar 2009 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Christie's Interiors wurde die Arbeit A portrait of a gentleman, half-length, in profile wearing a cravat (illustrated); and A portrait of Quintin Dick Esq., half-length, in profile für GBP 1.125,00 (€ 1.266,37) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 600,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Alfred d'Orsay auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Duke of Wellington on horseback im März 2004 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 7.170,00 (€ 10.732,83).
